Title 49 › Subtitle SUBTITLE IV— INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION › Part B— MOTOR CARRIERS, WATER CARRIERS, BROKERS, AND FREIGHT FORWARDERS › Chapter 137— RATES AND THROUGH ROUTES › § 13708
Motor carriers covered under subchapter I of chapter 135 must show the real rates, charges, or allowances for any transportation service on any bill or electronic invoice given to the person who pays the carrier or that person’s agent. They must also say, at that time, whether any discount or reduction was given and who got it. No one may make a carrier put false or misleading price or allowance information on those documents. If the price can change because someone must do something (for example, ship a certain volume over a set time), the carrier must note on the bill or invoice that a reduction, allowance, or other adjustment may apply.
