§15302 Authority to Exempt Pipeline Carrier Transportation

Title 49 › Subtitle SUBTITLE IV— INTERSTATE TRANSPORTATION › Part C— PIPELINE CARRIERS › Chapter 153— JURISDICTION › § 15302

Last updated Apr 5, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Board must exempt a person, a group of people, or a specific transaction or service in pipeline carrier transportation when it finds that applying a rule from this part is not needed to carry out the transportation policy in section 15101 and either the transaction is limited in scope or the rule is not needed to protect shippers from market-power abuse. The Board may start a case on its own or after someone asks. The Board may set how long an exemption lasts. It may also cancel the exemption if it later finds the rule is needed to carry out the transportation policy in section 15101.
