Title 49 › Subtitle SUBTITLE VII— AVIATION PROGRAMS › Part A— AIR COMMERCE AND SAFETY › Subpart iii— safety › Chapter 449— SECURITY › Subchapter II— ADMINISTRATION AND PERSONNEL › § 44945
Unclaimed money found at airport security checkpoints must stay with the Transportation Security Administration and be kept until it is spent on civil aviation security. When clothing is left behind, the TSA must try, working with the Department of Veterans Affairs, to give the clothing to the local airport or local authorities so they can donate it to charities, especially groups that help homeless or needy veterans and their families. TSA can make agreements with airports. Airports or TSA may donate to any charity they choose. This must not cost the government.
