Summary

You can be fined under Title 18, put in prison for up to 5 years, or both if you violate federal rules about transporting hazardous materials set by the Secretary of Transportation under this part or Chapter 51. That applies when you intentionally give or cause someone to give hazardous goods to an airline or to the operator of a civilian aircraft for air transport, or when you recklessly cause those goods to be transported by air. Whether you knew about the rule is not required to prove you broke the law, but if you did know about it, that can be used to reduce your punishment.
