Knowingly lying to cheat the Government about materials, how much or how well work will be done, costs, claims, or required reports for projects in grant applications to the Secretary of Transportation is a crime. Any person, including an officer, agent, or employee of the U.S. Government or a public agency, who does this can be fined under Title 18, imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both.
