Title 50 › Chapter 56— EXPORT ADMINISTRATION › § 1214
The Comptroller General must give the congressional committees listed in section 1215 a study about national security risks from selling computers whose composite theoretical speed is between 2,000 and 7,000 MTOPS to end users in certain countries. The study must also look at whether those machines can be bought from other countries and how these sales affect U.S. exporters. The Secretary of Commerce must set up a way for exporters to ask about suspicious end users in those same countries. The countries meant are the ones called "Computer Tier 3" in 15 CFR 740.7(d) as it was on June 10, 1997.
