Summary

Retired federal workers who go back to a federal job still get their annuity. Their basic pay will be reduced by the portion of the annuity that covers the time they work. The Director can hire retirees part-time under section 8344(l) of title 5. If too much is paid, the extra money is taken from their pay or other payments (including the annuity) and returned to the U.S. Treasury.
