§215 Institution of Confiscation Proceedings
Title 50 › Chapter 13— INSURRECTION › § 215
Summary
The Attorney General or the U.S. attorney where the property is located can start a condemnation case, and if they do, all of the recovery goes to the United States. If a private person files a formal complaint with that attorney to start the case, any recovery is split equally between that person and the United States.

Title 50, §215

The Attorney General, or the United States attorney for any judicial district in which such property may at the time be, may institute the proceedings of condemnation, and in such case they shall be wholly for the benefit of the United States; or any person may file an information with such attorney, in which case the proceedings shall be for the use of such informer and the United States in equal parts.
