Title 50 › CHAPTER 44 — NATIONAL SECURITY › SUBCHAPTER I — COORDINATION FOR NATIONAL SECURITY › § 3058
The Director of National Intelligence can set up one or more national intelligence centers to handle intelligence priorities, including regional issues. The Director must give each center’s leader the authority and control needed and must make sure each center has enough staff. The Director must also, when appropriate, make centers share information with the rest of the intelligence community. Under the Director’s direction, a center can lead all-source analysis using intelligence gathered inside and outside the United States, propose collection and analysis needs, and carry out other tasks the Director assigns. The Director must regularly review each center’s mission and staffing to keep them aligned with priorities. The Director can close any center. The Director should include a separate budget line for each center in the National Intelligence Program when appropriate.
