The Director of National Intelligence can send intelligence community employees who work as analysts and need foreign-language skills to accredited colleges or universities as students. The training can be at the undergraduate or graduate level and must teach the languages needed for their jobs. The Director can also repay the employee for all training costs, including books and reading materials. That repayment can cover full- or part-time study and come from regular government funds or other funds. The repayment is extra to any pay, benefits, travel, or allowances the analyst already gets.
