Title 50 › Chapter 46— CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY › § 3528
The Agency must have an Office of Medical Services. Starting no later than 1 year after March 15, 2022, medical officers who qualify must be paid using the same pay range that is published for Veterans Health Administration physicians in the District of Columbia region with the same medical subspecialty (under section 7431(e)(1)(C) of title 38) for the matching pay period. To qualify, an officer must give direct patient care, keep a current unrestricted physician license from a U.S. State, DC, or territory, hold active board certification in an American Board of Medical Specialties clinical specialty, and do at least 96 hours per year of clinical work in an accredited clinic or hospital not affiliated with the Central Intelligence Agency. If an officer permanently moves overseas and more than 50 percent of their duties there are direct care, they may count up to 480 hours of clinical work done before the move to meet the 96-hour rule for up to 3 years. The head of the Office must allow time off so officers can keep up those clinical hours.
