Title 50 › Chapter 50— SERVICEMEMBERS CIVIL RELIEF › Subchapter IV— LIFE INSURANCE › § 3973
To get protection under these rules, you must send a written application. The form must be signed by the insured person, their legal representative, or their beneficiary. It must name the insurance policy and the insurance company. It must also say that the insured’s rights under the policy are changed by these rules. The Secretary of Veterans Affairs can ask the applicant, the insured, or the insurer for more information to decide if the policy is covered. After getting the application, the insurer must give a report about the policy to the Secretary under the Secretary’s rules. By applying, the insured and the insurer are treated as agreeing to any policy changes needed to make these rules work.
