Title 50 › Chapter 52— RESTITUTION FOR WORLD WAR II INTERNMENT OF JAPANESE-AMERICANS AND ALEUTS › § 4201
Recognize and apologize for the forced removal and confinement of United States citizens and permanent residents of Japanese ancestry during World War II. Create a public education fund to teach about those events so they do not happen again. Provide payments to people of Japanese ancestry who were held. Compensate Aleut residents of the Pribilof Islands and the Aleutian Islands west of Unimak Island for injustices and hardships, for personal and community property taken or destroyed, and for Attu Island lands not restored. Work to discourage similar civil‑liberty violations in the future and to make U.S. human‑rights statements more credible.
