Title 50 › Chapter 53— TRADING WITH THE ENEMY › § 4327
Money or property that must be returned under certain parts of section 4309 can be attached or garnished before it is returned, using the attachment rules of the District of Columbia. Any attachment or garnishment papers must be served only on the Alien Property Custodian, who is treated as holding a credit for the person entitled to the return equal to the value of that money or property. No court officer may take physical possession of money or property held by the Alien Property Custodian or by the Treasurer of the United States.
