Title 50 › Chapter 53— TRADING WITH THE ENEMY › § 4336
Property of Germany, Japan, or their citizens that became U.S. government property after December 17, 1941 must not be returned, and owners will not be paid. Any net money from handling or selling that property must be sent to the U.S. Treasury as soon as possible. This does not change sections 4329, 4337, 4338, 4339, or 4340, or the Philippine Property Act of 1946. The Attorney General must deposit into the Treasury’s miscellaneous receipts any sums from property given to the Attorney General received after August 23, 1988, or received earlier but not yet put into the War Claims Fund as of that date, unless the Attorney General says the money is part of a court case. The Attorney General may pay $20,000 to the Government of Switzerland under the March 12, 1980 agreement.
