§40902 National Aeronautics and Space Administration Endeavor Teacher Fellowship Trust Fund

Summary

Creates a trust fund in the U.S. Treasury called the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Endeavor Teacher Fellowship Trust Fund to honor the Space Shuttle Challenger crew. Money may be moved into the Trust Fund from the NASA Gifts and Donations Trust Fund when the NASA Administrator chooses. The Administrator tells the Treasury Secretary to invest the fund in U.S. government securities that fit the fund’s needs, and any interest goes back into the Trust Fund. Earnings from the fund pay for the Endeavor Teacher Fellowship Program, but only if Congress provides the money in advance. The program can give fellowships to U.S. undergraduate students training to be certified teachers in elementary school or in secondary math, science, or technology, under standards set by the Administrator. Interest from the fund was made available in fiscal year 2012 for the Endeavor Science Teacher Certificate Program.
