The Administrator must provide ground facilities and support so research on Earth can lead to space experiments in basic and applied science that use microgravity and the space environment to benefit the country. The Administrator must also, as much as possible, run basic, applied, and commercial research on the International Space Station in areas like molecular crystal growth, animal and cellular studies, fluid physics, combustion, cellular biotechnology, and low‑temperature physics to keep U.S. microgravity research skills and capability.
