The Administrator must, when possible and while meeting science or education needs, buy cost‑effective space and airborne Earth remote sensing data and related services from commercial providers. These purchases must follow federal buying rules and are treated as commercial products or services. The U.S. can get the rights it needs to the data. The government may require safety standards.
