§60113 Data Policy for Landsat 7

Summary

Requires Landsat Program Management, with other federal agencies, to make a data policy for Landsat 7. The policy must make unenhanced (raw) Landsat 7 data available to anyone at the cost of providing it; deliver the data quickly and reliably to civilian, national security, commercial, foreign users and the National Satellite Land Remote Sensing Data Archive; keep U.S. ownership of all unenhanced data; help grow the commercial market while leaving value-added services to private companies; and, when possible, make distribution work with the Earth Observing System Data and Information System. The policy may also allow U.S. private companies to run ground receiving stations, let private firms have direct access to unenhanced data, and allow the U.S. Government to charge per-image, license, or other fees to station operators or distributors.
