Title 51 › Subtitle Subtitle VI— Earth Observations › Chapter 603— REMOTE SENSING › § 60303
The Administrator must run a competitive grant program for pilot projects that use remote sensing and other geospatial information to help State, local, regional, and tribal agencies. Grants should favor projects that use commercial satellite and other data (or public data when commercial is not available), combine different geospatial sources in new ways, include non‑Federal money or in‑kind help, involve commercial firms that create value‑added data products, and together show a wide range of public sector uses. Grants can last up to 3 years. Each grant recipient must send a report within 180 days after the project ends and hold at least one workshop within 180 days to share lessons. The Administrator must write rules for applying, selecting, running the projects, and for the reports and workshops.
