United States segment of the International Space Station: the parts built by the United States or built for the United States by other countries in exchange for money or launch services. Those U.S. parts are named a national laboratory to support the policy in section 70501(a). The NASA Administrator must try to increase use of the Station by other federal agencies and private companies through partnerships, cost-sharing, and similar arrangements to add to NASA’s funding. The Administrator may hire a non-government group to run the national laboratory if all federal laws and rules are followed.
