Title 52 › Subtitle Subtitle III— Federal Campaign Finance › Chapter 301— FEDERAL ELECTION CAMPAIGNS › Subchapter I— DISCLOSURE OF FEDERAL CAMPAIGN FUNDS › § 30119
People who make contracts with the U.S. government or its agencies for services, goods, or for selling land or buildings paid in whole or in part with money Congress provides must not give money or anything of value, or promise to give it, to a political party, committee, candidate, or any person for political use. That ban applies from the start of contract talks until whichever comes later: the contract is finished or the talks end. They also must not knowingly ask others to give such political contributions during that same time. Groups like corporations, labor groups, membership organizations, co‑ops, and corporations without stock may set up and raise money for a separate political fund to influence federal nominations or elections unless section 30118 forbids it. The rules in section 30118 apply to those funds. "Labor organization" is defined in section 30118(b)(1).
