Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle I— National Park System › Chapter 1027— LAW ENFORCEMENT AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE › Subchapter I— LAW ENFORCEMENT › § 102702
The Secretary must order the Service’s top law enforcement official to do three things: make a list of System units with the highest violent-crime rates, recommend building fixes and other steps to reduce violent crime (including sexual assault), and publish that list and recommendations in the Federal Register. Using those recommendations, the Secretary will spend up to $10,000,000 from the Violent Crime Reduction Trust Fund across the System, with priority for places with the highest sexual assault rates. The money can pay for better lighting, emergency phones, more security or law enforcement staff, or other safety projects.
