Summary

Money taken from employees for field meals and housing can be returned to the operating budget of the unit that provided them. The Service may use its funds to pay title and recording costs when land is donated to the United States for Service administration. With the Secretary’s approval, up to $500,000 per incident may be used for emergency law enforcement and search‑and‑rescue; the Secretary must quickly ask Congress for a supplemental appropriation to replace any money spent. The federal government will reimburse the District of Columbia each month for Park Police annuity payments under the Policemen and Firemen’s Retirement and Disability Act (Public Law 85–157, 71 Stat. 391) that exceed active members’ contributions; Service appropriations cannot be used for that reimbursement. Equipment funds may buy waterproof footwear, which counts as System equipment.
