Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle III— National Preservation Programs › Chapter 3051— HISTORIC LIGHT STATION PRESERVATION › § 305105
The Administrator must write the legal description for any historic light station that is transferred. With the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary, the Administrator may keep historical items at the site (for example, lenses). Those items should help tell the site's history or, if they cannot stay there, be given first to nearby preservation groups or museums that meet loan rules. Items not at the site when it is transferred remain U.S. property under the Secretary of Homeland Security. Conditions in the quitclaim deed stay with the land and bind future owners. No submerged (underwater) land is transferred.
