Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle III— National Preservation Programs › Chapter 3053— NATIONAL CENTER FOR PRESERVATION TECHNOLOGY AND TRAINING › § 305302
Creates a National Center for Preservation Technology and Training inside the Department of the Interior. The Center must be based at Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches. It is led by an Executive Director who has proven experience in historic preservation and is appointed by the Secretary with advice of the Board. The Secretary must help the Center get the staff, equipment, and facilities it needs. The Center’s work is to develop and share preservation skills and technology; train Federal, State, and local preservation workers and others; use useful research from other agencies and schools; and move preservation technology between governments, universities, the private sector, and international groups. It will work with the International Council on Monuments and Sites, the International Center for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, and the International Council on Museums. The Center carries out this work through research, training, technical help, public outreach, and a grants program under section 305304.
