Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle III— National Preservation Programs › Chapter 3087— NATIONAL MARITIME HERITAGE › § 308705
Makes America’s National Maritime Museum out of museums that both keep a collection of maritime artifacts showing the Nation’s maritime heritage and run outreach programs to teach the public about that heritage. The law names two such museums (if they meet those rules): The Mariners’ Museum, 100 Museum Drive, Newport News, Virginia; and the South Street Seaport Museum, 207 Front Street, New York, New York. Other museums that meet the rules can be added by law later. Any official U.S. mention of one of these named museums is treated as a reference to it as part of America’s National Maritime Museum.
