Title 54 › Subtitle Subtitle III— National Preservation Programs › Chapter 3123— COMMISSION FOR THE PRESERVATION OF AMERICA’S HERITAGE ABROAD › § 312303
Creates a group called the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad with 21 members chosen by the President. Seven of those picks must be made after talking with the Speaker of the House of Representatives and seven after talking with the President pro tempore of the Senate. Members serve 3-year terms, but someone who fills a vacancy only serves the rest of that term and may stay until a successor is named. The President picks one member to be Chair. The Commission must meet at least once every 6 months. Members get no salary for serving. If they travel for Commission work, they may get travel pay and per diem the same way intermittent government workers do under section 5703 of title 5.
