Summary

A Commission called the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad is created. The President appoints 21 members. Seven are chosen after talking with the Speaker of the House and seven after talking with the President pro tempore of the Senate. Members serve 3-year terms, except someone appointed to fill a vacancy serves only the rest of that term. A member may stay on until a successor is appointed. The President picks one member to be the Chair. The Commission must meet at least once every 6 months. Members get no pay for serving. When they travel for Commission work, they may be reimbursed for travel and allowed per diem instead of subsistence, in the same way intermittent government workers are paid under section 5703 of title 5.
