§1103 National Transportation Security Center of Excellence

Summary

Create a National Transportation Security Center of Excellence to do research, teach, and give professional security training for transportation workers and professionals. The Secretary must pick one of the named schools to lead and make agreements with the others and any extra schools the Secretary chooses so they form a consortium. Core members include Texas Southern University; the National Transit Institute at Rutgers; Tougaloo College; the Connecticut Transportation Institute at UConn; the Homeland Security Management Institute at Long Island University; the Mack-Blackwell Center at the University of Arkansas; and any others the Secretary names. When possible, the Secretary must include HBCUs, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Indian Tribally Controlled Colleges and Universities. Funding authorized: $18,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
