Heads of each intelligence unit must follow the Secretary and any guidance from the Director of National Intelligence and do these jobs for the Department's intelligence work. They must make sure information-sharing systems for homeland security, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and national intelligence are collected, processed, analyzed, and shared well to support the Under Secretary for Intelligence and Analysis. They must carry out and support the Department’s intelligence mission under that Under Secretary. They must use the Under Secretary’s input when rating staff, recommending bonuses or pay changes, or giving awards. They must work with the Under Secretary on rules for hiring intelligence staff. They must tell and work with the Under Secretary before reorganizing units in ways that change intelligence roles. They must make sure employees know and follow the Under Secretary’s policies and all laws. They must also do other tasks the Secretary assigns.
