Title 6 › Chapter 1— HOMELAND SECURITY ORGANIZATION › Subchapter VII— MANAGEMENT › § 352
The Secretary may set up a yearly award program to honor employees or teams for important work that helps the Department reach its goals. If made, the program must have award categories that focus on nonsupervisory staff, tell how to nominate someone, use an internal review board to recommend nominees, let the Secretary pick winners and hold a ceremony, and publicize the program inside the Department. The review board must talk with operational units, supervisors and nonsupervisors, and employee labor organizations. No extra money is provided for the program, and the Secretary does not have to give cash bonuses to winners.
