§413 Use of Counternarcotics Enforcement Activities in Certain Employee Performance Appraisals

Summary

Each part of the Department that is a National Drug Control Program Agency must make drug-enforcement work one of the things judged in job reviews for any employee who helps enforce federal, state, or local drug laws. Reviews should use objective measures when possible. They must look at the employee’s contribution to drug seizures and arrests and how well the employee cooperated with others inside or outside the agency on counternarcotics work. National Drug Control Program Agency — agencies named in 21 U.S.C. 1701(7) and any Department subdivision with major counternarcotics duties, as decided by the counternarcotics officer (under section 458) or that officer’s successor. Performance appraisal system — any system of regular job performance reviews, including under chapter 43 of title 5.
