The Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency must give states and local governments—and private owners or operators of critical computer systems if they ask—information about threats and weaknesses. The Director must also work with the Under Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and Response to help manage crises after threats or attacks. When asked, the Director must provide technical help to the private sector and other governments to make emergency recovery plans for major system failures, again working with that Under Secretary. The Director must also carry out the Secretary’s duties to protect federal information systems under the related federal law.
