§136r Research and Monitoring

Summary

The Administrator must do and fund research needed to carry out this part. The work can be done by grants or contracts with other federal agencies, universities, or others. The Administrator must work with the Secretary of Agriculture on integrated pest management and avoid duplicating research done by other federal agencies. The Administrator must also create and update a national pesticide monitoring plan with federal, state, and local partners. The Administrator must run monitoring for air, soil, water, people, plants, and animals as needed to follow the plan and this law. The Administrator must set rules for checking people and animals and their surroundings for accidental pesticide exposure, measure contamination levels and trends, find pollution sources, and link contamination to health and environmental effects. These activities must be done with federal, state, and local agencies.
