§1421d Commodity Reports

Summary

The Secretary of Agriculture must collect information from producers and make crop reports during the growing season. These reports show how crops are doing in each State and include simple explanations, comparisons, and other helpful details. Each year the Secretary must also survey producers for reports on supply, acreage, production, disposition, and prices for 25 fresh market vegetables, 3 processing vegetables, 6 fruits and nuts, 17 forage and turf seeds, 50 vegetable seeds, and maple syrup. The Secretary will make state-level reports from those surveys and must approve them before releasing them. Fruit and nut tree counts must be surveyed, printed, and shared every 3 to 5 years as the Secretary decides. Money needed to do this may be appropriated.
