Title 7 › Chapter 35A— PRICE SUPPORT OF AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES › Subchapter V— EMERGENCY LIVESTOCK FEED ASSISTANCE ACT OF 1988 › § 1472
When Congress provides money in advance, the Secretary of Agriculture may help dairy and other livestock producers for economic losses tied to producing animals. Help can cover animals that die, feed during shortages, payments for sudden jumps in production costs, and other losses the Secretary finds appropriate. Livestock means elk, reindeer, bison, horses, and deer. Commodity Credit Corporation funds cannot be used. Congress may appropriate whatever sums are needed to run this program.
