Title 7 › CHAPTER 41 — FOOD FOR PEACE › SUBCHAPTER IV — GENERAL AUTHORITIES AND REQUIREMENTS › § 1736g–1
Local currencies given under this chapter cannot be used to pay for making farm products for export if those exports would compete with and seriously hurt U.S. producers, as the President decides. But the President may allow help under this chapter — including local currencies from commodity sales — to pay for economic development in an eligible country listed as a major illicit drug producing country (22 U.S.C. 2291(i)(2)) to reduce its reliance on crops used to make narcotic or psychotropic drugs.
