§1736g–1 Assistance in Furtherance of Narcotics Control Objectives of United States

Summary

Local currencies provided under this program cannot be used to pay for growing or making crops for export that would compete with similar U.S. crops if that competition would cause substantial harm to U.S. producers, and the President finds that to be true. But the President may allow help under this program, including using local currencies from commodity sales, for economic development in an eligible country that is a major illicit drug producing country (as defined in section 2291(i)(2) of title 22). The goal must be to reduce that country’s dependence on crops used to make narcotic and psychotropic drugs.
