§2036d Pilot Projects to Encourage the Use of Public-private Partnerships Committed to Addressing Food Insecurity

Title 7 › Chapter 51— SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM › § 2036d

Last updated Apr 3, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary may approve up to 10 pilot projects to support public-private partnerships that fight food insecurity and poverty. Eligible groups that can apply include nonprofits, community-based groups, colleges or universities, and certain private entities chosen by the Secretary. A public agency means a federal, state, or local government department, agency, or other unit. Projects must last no more than 2 years and must pair one or more public agencies with one or more eligible groups. Projects should improve SNAP, create local food-security solutions, and build community capacity to address hunger and poverty. An independent evaluation must summarize what the pilots did, measure how well they worked, and report best practices for using public-private partnerships to improve benefit programs. Congress may provide $5,000,000 to run the program, and that money will remain available until spent. Only funds specifically provided for this purpose can be used.
