§2242a User Fees for Reports, Publications, and Software

Summary

The Secretary of Agriculture can give people copies of Department-made software, pamphlets, reports, or other publications (including electronic ones) when asked. The Secretary can charge reasonable fees for them, and those charges must follow section 9701 of title 31. Money collected must be kept and used to pay the direct costs of making or providing those items and can be credited to the appropriations or funds that paid the costs. Fees, late penalties, and interest go into the account for these receipts and may be invested in insured interest-bearing accounts or in U.S. Government debt; any earnings go back to that account.
