Title 7 › Chapter 55— DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE › § 2279l
Creates a National Detector Dog Training Center that will train dogs and their handlers to protect U.S. farms and natural areas from foreign and invasive pests and diseases. The Center must train dogs, teach people how to select and train those dogs, work with federal agencies (including U.S. Customs and Border Protection) and with state, local, and private partners, care for the dogs’ health and shelter, allow private adoption of retired or non‑completing dogs, and carry out other needed tasks as decided by the Secretary of Agriculture through the Administrator of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
