Title 7 › Chapter 60— EGG RESEARCH AND CONSUMER INFORMATION › § 2709
The Secretary must stop or pause any order that gets in the way of or does not help the law’s goals. He can hold a referendum (vote) at any time and must hold one if at least 10 percent of the egg producers who voted to approve the order ask for it. If a majority of the producers voting — who produced eggs during a period the Secretary sets and who together made more than 50 percent of the eggs produced by those voters — vote to end or pause the order, the Secretary must end or pause it six months after he finds that result. Ending or pausing an order is not treated as a new order under the law.
