Title 7 › Chapter 85— ADMINISTRATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS › § 5405
Requires the Secretary of Agriculture to boost and coordinate research on farm-related air quality. Congress found some studies say agriculture makes PM–10 but many used wrong data. The Department of Agriculture is studying how much farming adds to pollution and ways to reduce it cheaply. Federal policy on farm air pollution must be based on sound, peer‑reviewed science and must consider economic feasibility. The Secretary must, as much as possible, make federal agencies cooperate, avoid duplicate work, and prevent reporting of erroneous data. The Chief of the National Resources Conservation Service must form a task force of USDA staff, industry representatives, and other experts to advise the Secretary on oversight and coordination.
