§5608 Foreign Trade Missions

Summary

The Secretary of Agriculture must work to get more Tribal agricultural and food products included in federal trade activities. The Secretary must also increase teamwork between federal trade promotion and other trade efforts to help include those Tribal products. To do this, the Secretary must coordinate with the Secretaries of Commerce, State, and the Interior, and with other federal agency leaders as needed. The "Advisory Committee" means the Tribal Advisory Committee set up elsewhere in the law. Within 90 days after December 20, 2018, the Secretary must set clear, measurable goals to track how much Tribes and Tribal products are included in USDA trade work. Within 2 years after December 20, 2018, the Secretary must send a report on these efforts to the Advisory Committee and to five Congressional committees: House Agriculture; House Energy and Commerce; Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and Senate Indian Affairs.
