Title 7 › CHAPTER 89 — PECAN PROMOTION AND RESEARCH › § 6006
A pecan marketing plan can include several optional rules and programs. It may let the Board exempt pecans used for nonfood purposes and require safeguards for those exemptions. It can set different payment and reporting schedules for growers, grower-shellers, first handlers, and importers to match how they market pecans. The plan can fund promotion programs that must aim to raise general demand and follow other fund-use limits. It can pay for research and consumer or industry information projects. It may build reserve funds up to the amount budgeted for 2 years. With the Secretary’s approval, funds may be used to develop foreign markets.
