§6508 Prohibited Crop Production Practices and Materials

Title 7 › Chapter 94— ORGANIC CERTIFICATION › § 6508

Last updated Apr 3, 2026|Official source

Summary

Farms that want organic certification must not put on seeds or seedlings anything or use any practice that conflicts with the organic rules. They must not use fertilizers with synthetic ingredients or blended with materials the organic program bans, and they must not use phosphorus, lime, potash, or other items that conflict with the program as a source of nitrogen. They must also avoid long-lasting natural poisons (for example arsenic or lead salts) if a State official or the Secretary says they persist, remove plastic mulches at the end of each growing or harvest season, and not use transplants treated with synthetic or other prohibited materials.
