§7651 Nutrient Composition Data

Summary
The Secretary of Agriculture must update data that shows what nutrients are in foods on a regular basis. Within 180 days after June 23, 1998, the Secretary must send a report to the House Agriculture Committee and the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry that explains how the data will be updated, including how data quality will be checked and how the data will be produced, and the schedule for those updates.

(a)The Secretary of Agriculture shall update, on a periodic basis, nutrient composition data.
(b)Not later than 180 days after June 23, 1998, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Agriculture of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate a report that describes—
(1)the method the Secretary will use to update nutrient composition data, including the quality assurance criteria that will be used and the method for generating the data; and
(2)the timing for updating the data.
