Title 7 › Chapter 109— ANIMAL HEALTH PROTECTION › § 8322
The Secretary of Agriculture can make cooperative agreements with eligible groups to run projects under the national aquatic animal health plan. These projects aim to find, control, or eliminate diseases in aquaculture species and to promote species‑specific best practices. Any group that gets an agreement must pay the non‑Federal share of project costs as the Secretary decides, and must follow the disease and species best practices for the work. The non‑Federal share can be cash or in‑kind. The Secretary may use powers under the Animal Health Protection Act to carry out disease actions and to pay claims for destroyed animals, items, or transport. Eligible groups include States, local governments, Indian tribes, or others the Secretary approves.
