§8921 Research and Development of Agricultural Countermeasures

Title 7 › Chapter 114— AGRICULTURAL SECURITY › Subchapter II— OTHER PROVISIONS › § 8921

Last updated Apr 3, 2026|Official source

Summary

The Secretary must create a competitive grant program to fund basic and applied research and the development of qualified agricultural countermeasures. The Secretary may drop the competition rule if a plant or animal disease emergency is declared under the Plant Protection Act or the Animal Health Protection Act and doing so would speed development. Congress authorized $50,000,000 per year for fiscal years 2008–2013 and $15,000,000 per year for fiscal years 2014–2023 to carry out the program.
