Summary

At least twice each year, the Secretary must check the Social Security numbers of everyone getting payments under this law with the Commissioner of Social Security to see if they are still alive. The Secretary must stop any payments to, or made for, people who have died and were not eligible to receive them.

Title 7, §9093

(a)At least twice each year, the Secretary shall reconcile Social Security numbers of all individuals who receive payments under this chapter, whether directly or indirectly, with the Commissioner of Social Security to determine if the individuals are alive.
(b)The Secretary shall preclude the issuance of payments to, and on behalf of, deceased individuals that were not eligible for payments.
